Canasta is usually played by four players split into two partnerships and uses two decks of cards, including jokers. In order to earn points through different combinations of melds and bonuses, players must create canastas, or melds of seven or more cards of the same rank. 11 cards are dealt to each player at the start of the game, and the remaining cards are arranged in a draw pile.
