The 2025 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) explodes into action on January 8 when the first of 12 scheduled stops shuffles up and deals at the Grosvenor G Casino in Coventry. If the 2024 edition of GUKPT Coventry is anything to base judgment on, the 2025 version should be nothing short of huge.
Traditionally, the GUKPT heads to Coventry during the UK Open and the record-breaking Goliath festivals. However, in 2025, the GUKPT kicks off in Coventry from January 8-19 before returning for the UK Open (February 20 to March 1) and the Goliath (July 24 to August 3) later in the year.
The 2025 GUKPT Coventry festival starts on January 8 with a £50 satellite awarding seats to the Opener and the Mini Main. The first actual event shuffles up at 12:00 p.m. GMT on January 9, the first of four flights in the £200 buy-in, £100,000 guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em Opener.
Other side events include a £250 Pot-Limit Omaha 4/5/6 Card tournament, a £200 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo, a £1,650 High Roller, the £550 GUKPT Cup, and the first GUKPT Main Event of 2025.
Main Event Should Obliterate Its £250,000 Guarantee
Grosvenor has placed a £250,000 guarantee in the £1,250 Main Event's prize pool, but everything points to that sum getting blown out of the water. In 2024, this tournament drew in 632 players bought in and created a £667,400 prize pool. The fact 65 seats are guaranteed in various satellites during the GUKPT Coventry festival makes hitting and exceeding £250,000 in the pot ever more likely.
When this event ran in July 2024, it was part of the Goliath festival. A host of seasoned pros and established grinders reached the money, including Alex Todd, Guy Taylor, Waheed Ashraf, Keith Johnson, Endrit Geci, Charles Chattha, Kully Sidhu, Callum Gordon, and Steve Watts.
The tournament saw a four-way chip: Robert Shields finished fourth for £78,500, Eliot Catterson third for £81,300, Andrew Wilson second for £95,000, and Justin Tsui collecting the all-important winner's trophy and £100,000.
