  • A predetermined number of cards are dealt to each player, with the remaining cards making up the draw pile. Players take turns drawing from the draw pile or the discard pile to start the game, after which they discard one card. Players can make melds in two main ways, according to the basic rules of Rummy List 51: sets and runs. While a run is made up of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, a set is made up of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits.
