Players hailing from Brazil dominated proceedings in the latest edition of 888poker's flagship online tournament. The $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event attracts players from far and wide, each hoping to turn $109 into a much larger payday. This week's event drew in 1,029 entrants who created a $102,900 prize pool; Brazil's Samba stars got their hands on more than their fair share.
One of the $3,000 mystery bounty payments found its way to "aziz.Mancha" before they crashed out in 31st place. 888poker regular "KaizenStyle" fell in 22nd place, but not before they opened a golden envelope containing the $10,000 jackpot mystery bounty. Their total haul of $10,437 was the largest payout of the entire tournament.
Day 1 of the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event saw the field whittle to the eight-handed final table. Four of those eight finalists proudly displayed the Brazilian flag next to their alias, including chip leader "AquiNaoNene9," who had a final table to forget!

Rank | Player | Country | Chips | Big Blinds |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | AquiNaoNene9 | Brazil | 3,960,394 | 79 |
2 | feij4o | Brazil | 2,812,263 | 56 |
3 | andrasf | United Kingdom | 2,385,463 | 48 |
4 | cruiselini | 1,789,729 | 36 | |
5 | bluegemknife | Brazil | 1,764,544 | 35 |
6 | gaboor | 1,695,965 | 34 | |
7 | Gg7elasGG | Brazil | 576,150 | 12 |
8 | UsernameTTF | Romania | 450,492 | 9 |
The final table lost its first player 10 minutes into the action. "gabooor" open-shoved for a little less than 11 big blinds with ace-six from the button and lost to the ace-queen of "bluegemknife" who called from the big blind with ace-queen. The at-risk player flopped a six, but a queen landed on the river to end their participation in the tournament.
The chip leader endured a torrid time during their brief final table appearance. First, they lost a 900,000 chip pot when they ran into the flopped full house of fellow Brazilian "feij40" and then found themselves with less than an ante with their ace-king lost a huge pot against "cruiselini" and their pocket kings.
Amazingly, "AquiNaoNene9" managed to increase their stack to around 80% of a big blind on the very next hand, but they busted one hand later to go out in seventh and go from hero to zero.
"UsernameTTF" sat down at the final table as the shortest stack with only nine big blinds, but they managed to ladder two payout players with some short-stack ninja skills. They finally came unstuck around the 45-minute mark, committing their last five big blinds with pocket threes from middle position and losing to the superior pocket nines in the hands of "andrasf."
Fifth-place went to "cruiselini" despite them holding a significant chip lead when five-handed play began, They lost half of their stack when their pocket jacks lost to "bluegemknife"'s queens, and their stack dwindled from there. Their last activity saw them three-bet all-in for nine big blinds with ace-jack in the big blind after "Gg7elasGG" had min-raised in the cutoff with pocket tens. "Gg7elasGG" called, won the coin flip, and reduced the player count by one.
Brazil's "feij40" was cruising until they improved to top pair on the river in a hand where "andrasf" had turned a full house. That hand cost "feij40" all but nine big blinds of their stack. They slightly rebuilt their stack but crashed out after three-betting all-in for 11 big blinds with queen-jack after "bluegemknife" opened, then called, with the dominating ace-jack.
Three-handed play lasted 30 minutes, ending with the elimination of "andrasf." "bluegemknife" open-shoved for 7.5 big blinds effective from the small blind with nine-eight of diamonds, and "andrasf" called all-in with queen-ten. An eight on the turn was all she wrote for "andrasf."
"bluegemknife" entered the heads-up battle with fellow Brazilian "Gg7elasGG" holding a commanding 9,225,696 to 6,209,304 chip advantage. "Gg7elasGG" had the deal-making light illuminated, but their fellow South American had no thoughts about discussing a chop.

Get involvedA 40-minute heads-up battle ensued, which saw the chip lead exchange hands several times. However, "bluegemknife" eventually found themselves with a near four-to-one chip lead at the start of what was the final hand.
"Gg7elasGG" limped in with seven-three, and "bluegemknife" checked their eight-five. A five-king-six flop showing two diamonds saw "bluegemknife" check-call a 200,000 continuation bet. An offsuit queen on the turn saw similar action, with "bluegemknife" check-calling a 637,500 bet. The river was an eight, gifting "bluegemknife" two pair. They checked, "Gg7elasGG" fired their third barrel, this time all-in for a pot-sized bet, and "bluegemknife" quickly called. It was GG for "Gg7elasGG" and victory for "bluegemknife."
