Michael "Texas Mike" Moncek won over $1.5 million on Day 1 of the Hustler Casino LiveMillion Dollar Game. The high-stakes poker player lost it all back, plus a bit extra, two days later.

The second day of the Million Dollar Game became a $500,000 minimum buy-in game after some players backed out. But the action on Wednesday was every bit as intense as it was on Monday.

One of the main reasons more than 25,000 poker fans were tuned in for Day 2 of the (Half) Million Dollar Game was the presence of Moncek, a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner who infamously lost over $2.2 million across two sessions in the 2024 MDG.

Texas Poker Star Has a Rough Outing

Everything seemed to go Moncek's way on Monday. He was the biggest winner in the game and had erased more than half his losses from last year's Million Dollar Game. But it all fell apart in the second MDG stream.

That said, Texas Mike did have some breaks go his way during Wednesday's game. He flopped a set of jacks to crack Peter Wang's pocket aces for a $1.24 million pot.

Moncek also scooped a $900,000 pot with top oair when he caught Alan Keating bluffing the river with six-high on a missed straight draw. He also won a sizable pot against Jasper, a 24-year-old playing in the biggest game of his life, when he bet jack-high and received a call from a weaker jack-high. But most of the rest of the session went the other way.

Pocket kings doomed Texas Mike twice, both times against the same player — Keating. The first such incident began with Moncek raising the button to $5,000 with 7♦2♦. Jasper called from the small blind with Q♦10♣. Keating picked up K♥K♣in the big blind and three-bet to $35,000.

That didn't convince Texas Mike to fold. Instead, he moved all in for $304,000, and Keating, after Jasper folded, snap-called. There would be no bad beat in this $615,000 pot.

The second hand in which Keating picked up pocket kings, he bet $450,000 into a pot of $392,500 on the river with the board showing 8♣K♣6♣3♠4♥. Moncek, holding A♣6♣, tanked for a few minutes before deciding to call off the bet against a set with third pair. Keating took down the $1.29 million pot.

Texas Mike quit the game early down $1.72 million, completely erasing his seven-figure score on Monday, and then some. He's now down approximately $2.4 million lifetime in the Million Dollar Game, across four sessions.

Jasper, Texas Mike, Britney, and Nikhil "Nik Airball" Arcot all quit the game early, leaving Keating, Peter, and Haralabos Voulgaris to play three-handed to close it out.

Day 3 of the Million Dollar Game, the final session, will take place at 4 p.m. PT on Thursday from Hustler Casino in Los Angeles.
