Throughout the three days it took to complete the $2,200 Luxon Pay Grand Final at the 2025 Mediterranean Poker Party, one voice could often be heard above the riffling of chips, that of Ivan Bryksin. Bryksin struck up conversation at every table he was at, oftentimes showing his cards to create a friendly atmosphere, and seemed to be having an overall great time at the Merit Royal Diamond Spa Hotel & Casino.
However, Bryksin's casual demeanor did not distract him from his main goal: conquering the 1,452-entry field and raking in the top prize of $375,000, the largest piece of the $2,787,840 prize pool, which would quadruple his live total earnings, and he did just that when he defeated Nasser Al Mujaibel heads-up. Al Mujaibel also took home the biggest-ever prize of his career, with the $250,500 he received elevating him to a second place on Kuwait's all-time money list.
Sebastian Ionita and Konstantin Voronin also received record-setting six-figure sums for their third and fourth place, respectively, while Vlado Banicevic and Day 1c chipleader Tymofii Savkin made an appearance at the final table as well.

Day 3 Action
Bryksin's road to victory was not an easy one, as the 28 returning players were trimmed down to three tables without much of Bryksin's involvement. Once there, Scottish Triple Crown winner Niall Farrell failed to add a Merit poker title to his impressive resume as he fell in 21st place for $19,800. The same prize was reserved for, Aleksandr Kirichenko and Sergey Aleksandrov, who departed in 17th and 16th place nearly simultaenously to leave two tables remaining.
In the meantime, Bryksin had become a short stack, nurturing about 17 big blinds. Just after Adrian Strobel (13th - $24,000) got his dream of making back-to-back final tables in this event crushed and start-of-day chipleader Dmitry Kukhtarev departed in a disappointing 12th place ($30,000), Bryksin entered the picture for the first time. He doubled his stack through Alexandru Lupuleac, who not much later burst the final table bubble by eliminating Alessio Isaia in tenth ($30,000).

Meanwhile, Al Mujaibel had captured the chip lead, which he would hang on to until the heads-up. Bryksin, though, won the first hand of the final table, which saw him become second in chips. His position on the leaderboard was contested a few times early on, but Bryksin solidified his position behind Al Mujaibel after sending Savkin out in eighth.
At this point, Al Mujaibel really started to pick up the pace. Being responsible for the eliminations of Julian Menhardt, Banicevic, Voronin, and Ionita, he seemed to steamroll the final table as he began the heads-up with a two-to-one chip advantage.

Al Mujaibel's playstyle led to volatile pots heads-up, with big bets flying in on every street. After a few hands, Bryksin made the stacks even by calling down with second pair. The two players then traded a small lead back and forth for a while. After about 30 minutes of battling, Bryksin found himself with two pair on the river with a small chip advantage, correctly calling an out-of-flow all-in from his opponent and thereby winning the tournament.
An elated Bryksin wasted no time lifting the trophy and celebrating with his numerous friends on the rail, with cheers and applause erupting throughout the entire tournament area.

That wraps up the PokerNewscoverage of the $2,200 Luxon Pay Grand Final, but the Mediterranean Poker Party is far from over. Tune back in on May 12 as Day 1c of the massive Main Event will get underway, with the live reporting team being present from start to finish.
