888poker tried something a little different this weekend with its RakeLESS Sunday promotion. The online poker giant took no rake from any multi-table tournament that started between 6:00 p.m. and midnight BST on April 13. Some 42 tournaments were available to enter rake-free, with all 42 also having their guarantees boosted by 10%.

It was a risky move that could have cost 888poker dearly, especially in the $109 buy-on Mystery Bounty Main Event that regularly misses its $100,000 guarantee. However, it appears the risk was worthwhile because 39 of the 42 rake-free tournaments not only hit their boosted guarantees but surpassed them by some distance.

The only RakeLESS tournaments that didn't hit their new guarantees were a $1 event that missed by five entries, a $0.50 buy-in rebuy tournament that missed by 20, and a $0.10 buy-in turbo that needed another three entrants to hit.

Several tournaments under the RakeLESS banner far exceeded expectations. For example, the $55 buy-in Sunday Mystery Bounty drew in 762 entrants, who created a $41,910 prize pool, far more than the advertised $33,000 guarantee. Brazilian "GWonsttret" came out on top and saw $4,324 land in their 888poker account, slightly less than the $4,394 "Wall7824" collected thanks to the mystery bounty element.

The Sunday Big Shot 525 was another beneficiary of an increased field size. Ninety-four entrants meant a $49,350 prize pool instead of the advertised $33,000. Tom "sheeeeeeeeet" Hall emerged victoriously six hours after the tournament began. Hall padded his bankroll with $11,695.

Perhaps the best-performing RakeLESS tournament was the $109 Mystery Bounty Main Event. 888poker increased this tournament's guarantee to $110,000 despite regularly missing its usual $100,000 guarantee.

After 1,068 players bought in, a $116,412 prize pool was created. Brazil's "GiordanoKK" was the lucky player who pulled the $11,000 jackpot mystery bounty from its envelope before busting in 30th place. Their total haul of $11,575 was the largest prize the event awarded.

Unusually, there were no Brazilians at this week's Mystery Bounty Main Event final table. Instead, the final table was made up of a trio of British grinders, two Swedes, a Dane, a Ukrainian, and a German.

"Nyts14" of Ukraine was the player who emerged victorious from the battle and claimed the $8,973 top prize plus an additional $1,201 in bounty payments for a total haul worth $10,174, a great return on a few hours' work.
