Daniel Negreanu was among the numerous poker players on social media who were none too thrilled with Kendrick Lamar's musical performance during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in New Orleans, 40-22, with an efficient offensive output and stellar defense. The final score isn't indicative of the bloodbath that ensued on the field inside the Caesars Superdome.
Kansas City couldn't move the football in the first half and fell behind 34-0 in the third quarter. Patrick Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl MVP, had one of his worst games. But if there's any silver lining for the Chiefs, the game itself was so forgettable that the halftime show is getting equal attention.

Kendrick Lamar, one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time, performed for 13 minutes at halftime of the NFL's championship game. Many viewers enjoyed the 37-year-old's performance, but others voiced some displeasure on social media. That includes some within the poker community, including Negreanu and Allen Kessler.
Negreanu, a GGPoker ambassador, asked his 572,000 X followers to share their thoughts on the halftime show. He included a poll, and the results were about as lopsided as the game.

The poll had nearly 19,000 votes at the time of publishing, with over 60% choosing the "It's the worst" option. Only 15% voted for "It's great." Negreanu referred to the performance as the "worst" halftime show in the Super Bowl's 59-year history. The halftime show has been a major event since 1967, and some of the most popular musicians of all time have taken the stage, such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Eminem, and Diana Ross.
Negreanu told PokerNewshis favorite performers in Super Bowl halftime history have been Usher, Shakira, Miley Cyrus, and the Snoop Dogg-Eminem show during Super Bowl 50.
Kessler also didn't care much for Kendrick Lamar. He tweeted: "Maybe unpopular opinion but this halftime show is embarrassing bad compared to other years." Like Negreanu, he said he enjoyed the Shakira and J-Lo combination during Super Bowl LIV.
"I’d rather watch Britney Spears perform then him!" Eric Mizrachi tweeted about Kendrick Lamar.
Not everyone shared that take, however. In fact, quite a few who responded to the above tweets defended the performance.

Brent Hanks, a poker player and PokerGO commentator, claims "only two people" didn't like it, and those are "old people" and "Drake," who is involved in a rap feud with Kendrick Lamar.
The musical performance, love it or hate it, wasn't as bad as the Chiefs offensive line on Sunday. So, there's that.
