Set an alarm for 2:00 p.m. BST on April 28 so you don't forget to tune into Team PokerStars' Benjamin "Spraggy" Spragg's Twitch channel because something special is happening. At that time, the five SCOOP League captains will draft their team of four professionals and one Wild Card; you may become the latter.
Benjamin "Spraggy" Spragg, Sebastian "peace&loove" Huber, Fintan "easywithaces" Hand, Parker "tonkaaaa" Talbot, and SCOOP League newcomer Kelvin "Kelvin_FP:AR" Kerber will each select a seasoned pro for their team in turn. Only they know who those pros are, and there's every chance they'll have to switch to Plan B if one of their rival selects a player they had on their radar.
The Wild Card element adds a layer of mystery and excitement. All five team captains have been scouring the lobbies of the SCOOP Warm-Up events, trying to unearth an uncut diamond from the rough. If you want to increase your chances of being selected as a Wild Card, jump into some of the SCOOP Warm-Up events, share hand histories and strategic tips with your favorite team captain, and you may just sway their decision.
Remember, this weekend sees the $109 buy-in, $1 million Mystery Sunday Million, $1,050 buy-in, and $400,000 guaranteed Main Event take place. What better way to showcase your talents than by going deep into one or both?
Talbot Needles Spraggy About Disappointing WCOOP League Performance

Lex Veldhuis's team ran away with proceedings during the inaugural SCOOP League in 2024, finishing more than 3,000 points ahead of Spragg's band of heroes. Although Spragg aims to finish one place higher this time around, his Team PokerStars teammate, Talbot, kindly reminded him of his team's less-than-stellar points tally during the 2024 WCOOP League.
"I'd just like to remind Spraggy that you're only as good as your last performance, and in the last league, he came sixth."
An unusually quiet Spragg is yet to return any form of trash talk.
Huber has also decided to keep his lips sealed, preferring to let his poker do the talking.
"It may be my first SCOOP League, but having won the WCOOP League, I fancy my chances, but I'm saving my talking for the tables."

This year's new captain, Kerber, earned a bagful of points for Team Spraggy in 2024. He could be the captain to beat this year. Kerber won a trio of SCOOP titles in 2024, taking his total to eight victories and counting.
A Gold Power Path Pass Is Up For Grabs

Even if you do not become a Wild Card during the 2025 SCOOP League, you can still get involved in the fun and frolics. Before May 18, you can register for a freeroll in the name of the SCOOP League captain you think will win. If they do emerge victoriously, you'll play in a community freeroll against like-minded players.
Additionally, you'll earn points for the leaderboard associated with the captain you choose. Eliminate opponents from SCOOP events; the more foes you send to the showers, the more points you earn. Be one of the top 20 point earners when the leaderboards finish on May 30, and you'll receive a ticket to the Battle Royal Freeroll on June 1.
That means 100 players will enter the Battle Royale Freeroll to fight it out for a Power Path Gold Pass worth a cool $10,300. The runner-up walks away with a Power Path Silver Pass worth $2,500, with those finishing in third through 16th place securing a $109 Bronze Path.

- Drawing from the draw or discard pile requires players to carefully weigh their options in light of their current hand and the possible strategies of their opponents. A card that does not add to your current sets or runs, for example, but might help an opponent finish their hand, might be better to discard right away rather than keep. Also, letting go of cards that aren't useful is only one aspect of strategic discarding; another is deciding what to keep based on what you see other players doing. An opponent may be attempting to form particular combinations if they have been routinely selecting particular ranks or suits from the discard pile. 25-05-10
- Keeping cards that can be used in both sets and runs, for example, can give you options as the game goes on. For instance, you could aim for a run of nines if you have two nines and a ten of hearts. You could also watch for another ten or an eight of hearts to form at the same time. This flexibility can be extremely important in Rummy, as the game's dynamics can change quickly depending on the cards that are drawn and discarded. 25-05-10

- In Rummy, perfecting runs can frequently result in faster victories because of their sequential nature, even though sets are crucial. Players must gather cards of the same suit in order to complete a run, which can occasionally be more difficult than creating sets because certain sequences must be followed. Players should concentrate on spotting possible sequences early in the game if they want to be excellent at creating runs. If you have a 5 and 6 of diamonds, for example, drawing a 4 or 7 can help you finish your run. 25-05-10
