- Rummy has fairly simple basic rules, but in order to play well, players must grasp the unique rules & subtleties of each variation of the game. In the majority of Rummy variants, players start the game with a set number of cards and alternately draw cards from either the draw or discard pile before discarding a card from their hand. The goal is to arrange your cards into sets and runs, and once you've done so, declare that you are playing Rummy.. The objective of the game is to form all of the cards into sets & runs by one player, who can then declare Rummy and win the round. The rules unique to the Rummy variation that each player is playing, along with any extra regulations pertaining to wild cards or special melds, should be thoroughly understood by all players.
- In rummy, points are scored based on the value of the cards remaining in the players' hands at the end of each round. Face cards are worth 10 points, aces are worth 1 point, and numbered cards are worth their face value.
